Ehrlich Symposium I:
Salvarsan,
arsenicals and today’s treatment options in parasitic diseases
Ehrlich’s
use of methylene blue, atoxyl and finally his magic bullet “Salvarsan” has
initiated chemotherapy. Ever since Salvarsan’s introduction its chemical structure
was not sure. Our research will introduce the “true” chemical structure of the
first “Magic Bullet”. Nothing is known about the mode of action of Salvarsan.
World experts will then bridge from Ehrlich’s “Magic Bullets” to today’s modern
research using genetics and other molecular biology methods in treatment of
tropical parasite diseases.
